About

The Curry Congress is an exclusive curry club based in the north west of the United Kingdom, we are seen as the premier review group of curry establishments based in the area and membership to the Curry Congress is by invitation only.

Established in 2017, the Curry Congress soon garnered a reputation amongst the curry industry in the surrounding area for our in depth review and analysis and providing our readers with the knowledge that they want to know before actually visiting. How many other review groups supply you with table size and final bill presentation information?

Collectively the Curry Congress have over 200 years of curry tasting and reviewing experience, each member is well qualified to be able to perform the task of reviewer for such a premier group.

To be able to output the quality that we do, we take our time with our reviews. We visit, we eat, we take notes, we reflect, we taste more curry to compare and then we put down our final thoughts. Eating a curry is an experience, and it’s not one that just lasts a night, it lasts through to the next morning, the next afternoon and beyond and to get our fair reviews we need to ponder and collect all of our thoughts before putting fingers to keyboards.

Our review system works on a scale of 8 (not 10 and not 5), we have found that these typical scales are too easy to mislead. Using a scale of 5 provides too much between difference between a 4 and a 5, which can lead to a confusing experience when you go to a 4 star rated eatery and have a mediocre experience because the reviewer thought that 3 sounded too bad but it was no where near a 5. And reviewers using a scale of 10 are just all over the place, too much middle ground (4-8) which are very commonly pick ratings as people are more scared of giving a 10/10 or anything lower than a 4 will make them look like they are dragging the eatery through the dirt. We’ve tested many scales and have found that using a scale of 8 provides everyone with a great enough rate to provide everyone with enough information to make well informed decisions about visiting and what experience to expect upon arrival.

We have recently taken the decision to move to our own website and to self publish our reviews rather than use other review platforms. This way we are free of any imposed censorship and can do as much as we can to support our readers, followers and most importantly the curry houses we visit.
